Our Story

My name is Nadia and I’m the owner of “Sweet Memories”. I’m a mother of two babies and they are the main reason why I started my business in life casting.

When I was pregnant with my first baby in 2016 I went to Russia to visit my family and this is where I first heard about life casting. Both of my nieces had their hand and feet casts done when they where little and I thought that it’s a very neat and beautiful keepsake that kids can have when they are older, it’s so awesome to see how little their hands and feet were just a couple years ago. I immediately thought that I need one of those for my baby boy when he is born. I came back and started looking for a life casting studio. No luck.

For my baby shower I got a little kit to make an imprint of baby’s hand and foot. I thought that it’s good enough and stopped worrying about getting casting done for him. When Nicholas was a month old we tried to make an imprint of his foot, it seemed just impossible to make an imprint of his little hand. It didn’t come out the way we expected. I wasn’t happy with the result. So I started searching information about life casting, but of course I couldn’t find much on the Internet. This is how I started trying different material to make the molds, different plaster to make the cast. It took me a few months until I figured out how to make a cast. Of course they weren’t perfect in the very beginning but I practiced a lot on my baby, and then on my friends’ babies and my niceness and nephews.

Finally in April of 2018 I decided that I was ready to make the castings for other people. I haven’t stopped since.

I love kids and I really enjoy what I’m doing. I love the parents’ reactions when they see the finished product, I love making those special memorial keepsakes for new parents and grandparents. Ten years from now you won’t believe how much your babies will have changed, and they will be amazed how tiny their hands and feet were when they were little.
